Sad News at Green Turtle Bay

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

I have not posted a blog for several weeks because we received a call that my dad had had a stroke and was hospitalized in Brunswick, Georgia. We rented a car and, with Lorenzo and Lois, took off for North Carolina. After a few hours rest at our home there we drove to Georgia, where we have spent the last few weeks. Dad was in the hospital two weeks and at first the doctors thought he was going to make a partial recovery. By the end of the first week, however, it was obvious that he was going downhill. Since he had stipulated that he was not to have heroic measures or feeding tubes, and had a living will stating this, we had him moved to a hospice center. He lived there a week and passed away on Thursday evening, September 25. He had celebrated his 94th birthday on August 14. Now that the funeral in Georgia is over and the interment in Tennessee, which we attended yesterday, we hope to be able to take care of our remaining business here and return to Gilraker by about October 15. We want to thank all our friends who have been keeping us in their thoughts and prayers through this time of bereavement.
